Bushman Rock Estate Winery and Vineyard

Lying hidden down the picturesque Nyamasanga River Valley Bushman Rock Estate Winery and Vineyard is the only boutique winery in Zimbabwe. Located on the western bank of Theo’s Dam and at an altitude of 1 500m the grapes that grow on the 14 hectares of vines have the best of both required climatic conditions. The heat from the summer sun ripens and brings the rich sugars out in the wines and the wind coming off the lake provides a cooling effect.

As a family our passion is our estate and we strive to empower our wine with the fervor and emotions, strong flavors and bouquets that we find personifies our existence in Africa. Prior to our purchase of the Estate its wines, sold in 2l flagons, had been known for their price and remembered more for the headache the next day than the flavors. When the Passaportis’ bought Bushman Rock Estate Sally, having grown up on the first vineyards in Zimbabwe, immediately set about extensive replanting in the vineyards. Traditionally in Zimbabwe wines have been somewhat thin due to our summer rainfall and in order to ‘harden’ our wines and give them more strength we have replanted varieties that ripen well into the rainy season. We strive to portray the beauty of our continent in each sip of our wine. Our aim is to harness the raw ferocity of nature, yet combine it with the tranquil splendor of our sun-sets. At Bushman Rock we believe that ones relationship with wine is personal and that every single wine drinker perceives and receives something diverse from each different wine.
