Bushman Rock Water
Over the millennia the Nyamasanga River carved through the decomposed granite and sand veldt to form a steep, narrow valley. The valley has always been known for its abundance of wildlife and water, hence the name Nyamasanga; meaning 'the animals that hide in the reed.' The geology of the valley forms a natural filtering system; any rain that falls immediately seeps through the metres of sand before hitting the granite bedrock. Fissures and cracks that run through the rock collect the water, naturally mineralizing it and creating a sweet, clear water source. Where the rocks protrude from the surrounding veldt the water comes bubbling out, forming small wells and seeps. The ancient people built fortifications and protected the caves from which the clear water sparkled.Centuries later Bushman Rock Winery was founded. Lying between the Nyamasanga River and a natural seep, there was abundant river water for irrigation and naturally filtered water to drink. When the Passaportis' purchased the estate the winery production was at a low point and the bottling and labelling machinery stood unused. Tests were carried out on the water that seeped form the ground adjoining the winery and it was found that with minimal filtration the water was suitable for bottling. Utilizing the excess bottling capacity within the winery at Bushman Rock the Bushman Rock Water company commenced trading in early 2006. We have since grown and are housed in our very own bottling plant but maintain our customer focus and restrict our output in order to ensure our versatility and sensitivity to our existing customers.
